Being in the right environment when recovering from illness or treatment is a top priority for anyone being admitted to a hospital. The space where you spend your time as an inpatient plays a major role in your comfort, stress levels, and overall healing. Every hospital patient room at Unihealth Southwoods Hospital is designed with the specific needs of our patients in mind, balancing medical care with personal comfort.
At our hospital, we offer a range of hospital room options, from the affordable Semi-Private Room Ward to the premium Executive Room. If you are wondering which one would suit your needs the best, read on to find out.
The Balanced Choice of a Semi-Private Room
Usually, the standard of semi-private hospital rooms in the Philippines is the preferred option. It delivers a noticeable upgrade in comfort and privacy without the higher cost of a private room.
A Semi-Private hospital room is also one of the most popular choices for accommodation for inpatient stays at our hospital. It has the balance between the more social setting of a ward and the quiet of a private room.
You will share the space with only one (1) other patient, which greatly reduces noise and foot traffic, and overall activity compared to larger shared rooms. Each patient is typically provided with their own bed area with privacy curtains which creates personal space during sleep, medical consultations, and visits from family members. Our Semi-Private rooms also have shared bathrooms that are regularly maintained by our dedicated hospital staff.
This room is a great practical upgrade for patients who are looking for a quieter environment while keeping their medical costs manageable. It’s also a preferred option for patients using PhilHealth or HMO plans as these can typically cover up to a Semi-Private Room.
Private Rooms as a Personal Sanctuary
A Private Room offers a peaceful space for support, rest, and comfort during recovery. Patients can benefit from reduced noise, private medical consultations, and dedicated bathroom facilities, creating a calmer and more controlled environment. While this option comes at a higher cost than shared rooms, it is ideal for patients who value privacy, uninterrupted rest, and a more personal healing experience during their hospital stay.
At USHMC, we have two tier options that our patients can choose from.
The Small Private Room
The Small Private Hospital Room is a self-contained space designed for one (1) patient, offering full control of the environment.
This room has complete privacy for consultations, better sleep, a private bathroom, and seating for one or two visitors, best for patients who are sensitive to noise or who recover best in a quiet, solitary setting.
The Large Private Room
The Large Private Hospital Room provides the same privacy and peace as our Small Private Room but with more floor space.
This room has more space for visitors, best for patients who have longer hospital stays or for patients with a family member acting as a full-time caregiver or guardian. The additional space also allows our medical staff to move equipment and perform bedside care more comfortably, helping make the room feel less crowded.
Both our Small and Large Private Rooms have a comfortable couch for hosting visitors or become a sleeper sofa for guardians, a TV for entertainment, a Mini Fridge to keep food and drinks fresh, and a Nurse Call Button to get help immediately whenever needed or in case of emergencies. The room is also fully air-conditioned and has its own private toilet and bathroom.
The Premium Standard Executive Room
Our Executive Room is the highest tier among our hospital room options. It is designed to combine medical care with comfort that’s just like home.
This room includes a lounge area with a couch and mini coffee table to make the environment more comfortable for your visitors and your guardian during your stay. It also has premium furnishings like a Lazy Boy for relaxation, a TV for entertainment, a Mini Fridge to store food and drinks, and a Nurse Call Button in case our patient needs help or in case of emergencies. These amenities are meant to help our patients focus on recovery without sacrificing everyday comforts.
This room also has its own private bathroom and is fully air-conditioned, perfect for patients who are seeking maximum comfort, for professionals who need to work during recovery, or families who want a big, spacious, and home-like space.
Continuous Connectivity During Recovery
All of our hospital patient rooms have Free WiFi Access. This ensures that you remain connected online, so you can let your loved ones know about your condition and status or obtain entertainment sources during longer hospital stays.
Recovery Rooms for Critical Transition
After surgeries, our patients are first transferred to our hospital Recovery Rooms before moving to their chosen hospital patient room.
This is done because our recovery area is a high-monitoring area where patients wake up from anesthesia. Our specialized nurses closely track vital signs during this critical period.
Although the stay in our recovery room is short, this time plays a crucial role in making sure that the patient remains stable. Once you are alert and cleared by medical staff, you will be moved to your ward or private room.
PhilHealth, HMO, and Financial Planning for Your Hospital Stay
Understanding the cost of hospital admission is an important part of planning. It eliminates anxieties and lets you know exactly what to expect. Knowing your inpatient benefits from your PhilHealth or HMO can help reduce stress.
As we know, PhilHealth follows a case rate system for inpatient coverage. This means a fixed amount is paid based on diagnosis and deducted from your total bill. To learn more about how you can use your PhilHealth for your hospital admission, you maycheck our PhilHealth Insurance Guide here.
For HMO coverage, it all depends on your plan. The higher your HMO plan is, the bigger the allocation will be for your hospital room. Usually, lower or mid-tier HMO plans can cover up to Semi-Private hospital rooms. To know exactly what your plan covers, please check with your HR or HMO provider accordingly.
