The USHMC Heart Station provides diagnostic procedures needed for the evaluation of patients with suspected or unknown heart-related disorders. It is equipped with state-of-the-art machines, with highly experienced cardiologists and technologists to provide accurate results and high levels of patient satisfaction through safe quality care.
Services:
- 2d Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram
- 24-Hour Holter Monitoring
- Treadmill Stress Test
- 24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Carotid and Vertebral Duplex Scan
- Arterial Duplex Scan
- Venous Duplex Scan
A 2D Echocardiogram, often referred to as “2D-Echo”, is an ultrasound of the heart that uses two-dimensional volume, color and Doppler to evaluate overall cardiac functions and blood flow across the cardiac valves. The test will determine disease of the heart muscle, heart tumors and congenital heart defects. Our Heart Station offers adult, pediatric and fetal echocardiogram.
An Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) is a routine cardiac test that measures the electrical activity of the heart to show any irregularity in the rhythm, enlargement, old, and recent heart attacks.
Also known as Ambulatory ECG, the Holter Monitor records a patient’s electrical activity for 24 hours to help evaluate heart abnormalities or irregularities during the day while they perform their daily activities and in sleep.
This helps the cardiologist know how a patient’s heart will respond to physical stress, assess symptoms such as chest pain and palpitations to determine whether the problem is coming from the heart. Also, the test will determine if the patient is likely to develop coronary artery disease.
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring measures a patient’s hourly blood pressure while moving around or doing routine activities for 24 hours. This test will see how the patient’s BP react to medications, or find out if they are experiencing a “white coat effect” wherein the patient’s BP are much higher when they are in the hospital/facility than at home or other places.
A high frequency ultrasound of blood vessel walls of the carotid, vertebral and subclavian arteries which helps in the evaluation of atherosclerosis and plaque formation. It is often required in patients with high vascular risk factors of hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes.
A type of peripheral vascular ultrasound that use sound waves or Doppler to produce a color map of the arteries in the arms and legs to identify how the blood is flowing through the arteries. It determines any blockages or narrowing which may reduce blood flow and detect peripheral vascular disease.
A type of peripheral vascular ultrasound that use sound waves or Doppler to evaluate venous blood flow in the arms and legs in patients with symptoms such as pain, swelling and presence of varicose veins. Venous Duplex Scan will help in the early detection of venous insufficiency and deep vein thrombosis.
